The Ohio Valley Conference announced its Week 6 football award winners on Sunday, and to nobody’s surprise Lindenwood quarterback Cade Brister was named the OVC Offensive Player of the Week.

Brister, the senior from O’Fallon, Mo., played one of the best games of his career on Satuday, in leading Lindenwood to a 52-49 victory over Central Arkansas.

The 6-foot, 222-pounder had 475 yards of total offense (413 passing and 62 rushing), and played a role in all seven touchdowns the Lions scored (two passing and five rushing), which set a new school record.

At one point, Lindenwood, which never trailed in the game, scored touchdowns on five consecutive possessions, to keep the pressure on a Central Arkansas team, which was reportedly favored to win by three touchdowns.

This was the second time Brister has won the OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors. He also earned the award in Week 2, when he threw for 377 yards and three touchdowns in Lindenwood’s 37-3 home-opening win over Keiser University.

Brister and the Lions will be back in action on Saturday, when they’ll head to Charleston, Ill. to take on Eastern Illinois in a key OVC contest.

Lindenwood’s next home game will be in two weeks, on Saturday, October 22, when the Lions will host their annual Homecoming Game at Hunter Stadium, against Murray State.
