As it gets ready for the XFL Conference Championship Game on Sunday against the DC Defenders, the St. Louis Battlehawks found out on Tuesday that seven of its players were named to the All-United Football League team.
Leading the way is linebacker and edge rusher Pita Taumoepenu — a potential UFL Defensive Player of the Year candidate — who tied for the league lead with 10 quarterback sacks this season.
Joining Taumoepenu on the All-Defensive Team is fellow linebacker Willie Harvey, who had 58 tackles, three tipped passes, and a spectacular interception for a touchdown back in Week 4 against Arlington.
Three St. Louis players made the All-Offensive Team, led by running back Jacob Saylors, who was second in the UFL this season with 499 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Saylors, who played in only nine games, set a UFL record with 744 total yards.
Offensive linemen Steven Gonzalez and Mike Panasiuk were also named to the All-UFL Team. The Battlehawks led the league in total yards, passing, rushing yards, and time of possession.
