ARLINGTON, TX — The XFL announced that the exclusive rights to 28 players were assigned to XFL teams Wednesday.
The teams acquired rights to players who were invited to the XFL Combine last month or XFL Showcases held earlier this summer. As part of the transactional process, the Battlehawks traded linebacker Silas Kelly to the Seattle Sea Dragons in exchange for tight end Charlie Taumoepeau and the claiming rights for an additional player, which was used for defensive lineman Christian Mejia.
Taumoepeau returns to St. Louis after originally being selected by the Battlehawks in the 2023 XFL Supplemental Draft. He was later traded to the Seattle Sea Dragons, where he appeared in six games with 5 receptions for 60 yards. Kelly had 17 tackles and an interception in nine games with the Battlehawks.
