ST. LOUIS, MO — With the United Football League roster cut deadline just over a week away, the St. Louis Battlehawks announced a couple key moves on Thursday.
The Battlehawks have released quarterback prospect Ben Wooldridge, who was named QB3 earlier this week by head coach Ricky Proehl.
Wooldridge, who was competing with Brandon Silvers — St. Louis’ returning backup QB from last season — and former Canadian Football League backup Harrison Frost for the Battlehawks’ starting position this season, fell to the third string spot during training camp this spring.
League sources indicate the Battlehawks tried to maneuver a trade for Wooldridge, but couldn’t find any takers. So the team cut him on Thursday.

Sources also believe St. Louis intends to bring back Michael Pratt, the former American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, who was on the practice squad for Green Bay and Tampa Bay in 2024.
Pratt signed with St. Louis back in January, but left to pursue opportunities in the NFL. He recently became available again and remains a player the Battlehawks would like to compete for its starting quarterback spot in 2026.
The UFL season will begin for St. Louis on March 28, when the club will host its season opener against the DC Defenders. Kickoff at the Dome at America’s Center is slated for 11 a.m., and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
