ST. LOUIS, MO — The Washington University men’s soccer team put together a complete team effort and dominated the action from start to finish, Tuesday evening, in a 3-0 shutout victory over Millikin University at Francis Olympic Field.
With the victory, Wash. U. earned its third straight win, and improved to 5-3 overall on the season. Additionally, the Bears are unbeaten at home, with a 4-0 record as the host club this season.
Through eight games in the 2022 season, Wash. U. has produced four shutout victories, with all four occurring at Francis Olympic Field.
Three different players scored the goals for the Bears. Senior Shiv Lamba, sophomore Nate Vota, and junior Owen Culver were the goal scorers, with true freshman Zach Susee assisting on the goals by Lamba and Vota.
Culver, a St. Louis native who attended Webster Groves High School, scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season. That mark has him tied for third-most goals scored in the UAA this season, and he is tied for second-most points with 13.
Goalkeeper Matt Martin earned his fourth shutout and fifth win in goal this season, after posting five saves against the visiting Big Blue.
Wash. U. outshot Millikin, 21-10, and had 10 corner kicks, while allowing the Big Blue none.
The Bears will be back in action this Sunday, October 15, when they’ll host another UAA contest against Rochester. That matchup at Francis Olympic Field is scheduled to kickoff at 11 a.m.
