CLAYTON, MO — The biggest day of the 2023-24 college basketball season will take place on Saturday for the Washington University men’s and women’s teams.
Not only will it be Senior Day at the WashU Field House, where several players will be honored for their contributions to WashU basketball. It will also be a day where both teams can solidify their spots into the NCAA Division III postseason.
Both Bears teams will go into Saturday’s regular season finales with real chances at making the NCAA Tournament.
The WashU men are 17-7 on the year and ranked No. 1 in the most recent NCAA Division III Region VIII poll. The Bears will host the University of Chicagon on Saturday, which is ranked No. 6 in the regional poll.
If WashU can win that game, they will look up a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
The WashU women are ranked No. 5 in their regional poll and will play No. 6 U. of Chicago. Both teams are 16-8 and currently in line to make the tournament, but a loss on Saturday could derail those plans.
Saturday is going to be a day of big time basketball at the WashU Field House.
The day will begin with the women’s game, which will tip off at 1 p.m. The men’s game will follow at 3 p.m.
The NCAA Division III men’s & women’s tournament selection shows will air on NCAA.com on Monday, February 26.
