ST. LOUIS, MO — The Saint Louis University women’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven games on Thursday, when it played to a 1-1 draw against Saint Joseph’s University in an Atlantic 10 Conference game at Hermann Stadium.
Senior forward Emily Gaebe scored her 40th career goal and eighth of this season to put Saint Louis on the board in the 16th minute. Then, two minutes later SJU’s Sarah Fisher scored to tie the game, which remained that way for the final 70 minutes.
Gaebe’s goal came following a shot by teammate Elise Le. Fisher made the save on Le’s attempt, but the rebound went right to Gaebe, who banged it home to give Saint Louis a quick 1-0 lead.
SLU is now 6-1-5 on the season and 2-0-2 in Atlantic 10 play, while SJU is 4-3-5 and 0-1-3 in the conference.

The Billikens fired a season-high 27 shots, including 10 on goal, at SJU goalkeeper Katie Cappelletti, but were only able to get the one past her. SLU goalkeeper Emily Puricelli faced just two shots, as the Billikens controlled the action all night.
SLU’s only loss of the season, came on September 1 against then-No. 7 ranked Penn State. Since then, the Billikens had a scoreless tie against Creighton, then won four games in a row, before finishing with 1-1 ties in both their last two games.
The Billikens will be on the road this weekend, when they’ll travel to Pittsburgh to take on Duquesne. The teams will play on Sunday, October 6, with the opening kick set for 12 p.m.
SLU’s next home game is next Sunday, October 13, when the Billikens will host VCU.
