ST. LOUIS, MO — The Saint Louis University women’s soccer team scored five second half goals on its way to a 6-1 win over SIU-Edwardsville, in a match Sunday afternoon at CITYPARK.
Senior forward Emily Gaebe scored the first two goals of the game — her team-leading fourth and fifth scores of the season — and also added an assist to pace the Saint Louis offense.
Teammate Hannah Larson had a goal and two assists, while other teammates Julia Simon, Emily Fox, and Lucie Schwartz also scored goals.
For Larson, it was her first goal of the season, and for Fox and Schwartz, their goals were the firsts of their college careers.
Emily Puricelli recorded her 70th career victory in goal and combined with freshman Nimu Karani for the shutout.
SLU, which is ranked No. 19 in the country in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, is now 3-1-3 on the season. SIUE fell to 1-2-2.

Gaebe put SLU on top in the 14th minute when she scored on one of the Billikens’ six 1st-half corner kicks. Izzy Luebbert assisted. The score remained that way until the 58th minute, when Gaebe struck again. This time with assists by Larson and Katie Houck.
That was the sixth time Gaebe scored at least two goals in a game in her career, and a sparked a flurry of offense for the Billikens, who scored four goals in 11 minutes to turn a tight contest into a blowout.
Simon scored in the 60th minute, on a play set up by Gaebe, to make the score 3-0. Then, after SIUE scored its goal, Larson scored in the 66th minute and Fox did so as well in the 69th minute to make the score 5-1.
Schwartz added an unassisted goal in the 84th minute to close out what was Saint Louis’ highest scoring effort of the season.
SLU is 8-1-1 all-time against SIUE, which includes a current seven-game winning streak.
The Billikens will be back in action on Thursday, September 12, when they’ll travel to Cincinnati to a non-conference match against No. 15-ranked Xavier. The Lady Musketeers are 7-0-1 on the year and are coming off a 1-0 win, Sunday night against their own archrival, the University of Cincinnati.
Opening kick for that match is set for 6 p.m., and the contest will be streamed live on FloSports.
