ST. LOUIS, MO — The Saint Louis University and No. 9-ranked Missouri State men’s soccer teams played to a 1-1 draw in a non-conference contest, Wednesday night at Hermann Stadium.

The Billikens are now 3-3-2 on the season and have played four straight matches without a loss. Missouri State is 5-0-2 on the year and hasn’t lost any matches yet this season.

Both teams scored their goals in the first half.

Saint Louis took the initial lead in the game’s 12th minute, when junior defender Lawson Redmon took a free kick and landed a pass in the Missouri State goalbox. The pass bounced off a defender and went towards senior Diego Konincks, who headed it into the Missouri State net for his second goal of the season and a 1-0 Billiken lead.

Missouri State answered in the 36th minute, when forward Michael Peck deflected a pass past SLU goalkeeper Mason Hart. It was also Peck’s second goal of the season.

The nationally-ranked Bears controlled the action for much of the night, and outshot the Billikens 14-4, though only six of MSU’s shots were on goal. Missouri State also had four corner kicks to Saint Louis’ one.

A loud crowd of 1,196 watched the teams battle in the second half. But neither team could muster many solid scoring chances.

Missouri State did have one tremendous chance late in the game, but good teamwork from Redmon and Hart kept the Bears from scoring.

SLU will now move back to Atlantic 10 Conference play, with a game on Saturday at Hermann Stadium against Rhode Island. That contest is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m., and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
