DAYTON, OH — The Saint Louis University women’s soccer team claimed its third straight (and sixth in the last seven years) Atlantic 10 Conference regular season championship on Sunday, when it played to a scoreless draw against Dayton.
Saint Louis came into the final regular season game of the season needing simply to not lose to win the title. The Billikens came into the game with no conference losses, while Dayton had one, so the Flyers needed to win Sunday’s game to win the championship.
The final score was 0-0.
SLU concluded its regular season with an 11-1-6 overall record and a 7-0-3 conference mark. The Billikens will be the No. 1 seed in the eight-team A-10 Championship Tournament, which will begin on Saturday, November 2.
Saint Louis, which has won the A-10 Tournament six years in a row, will host No. 8 seed Davidson (8-7-3, 4-5-1) in the tournament quarterfinals. Opening kick at Hermann Stadium is set for 5 p.m.
The winner of the Billikens/Wildcats matchup will advance to the semifinals, which will be played on November 6. The winner of that contest will then advance to the tournament championship, which will be played on November 10.
The winner of the A-10 Tournament will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
