ST. LOUIS, MO — The Saint Louis University men’s basketball team won its fifth straight game and is off to its best start since the 2011-12 season, thanks to a 93-79 victory over New Hampshire, Sunday afternoon at Chaifetz Arena.
Saint Louis is now 11-1 on the season — the program’s best beginning to a year since the team began the 2011-12 campaign with a 12-1 start.
Sunday’s victory was also SLU’s 12th straight at home, dating back to last season, which is the team’s longest winning streak ever at Chaifetz Arena.

Billiken big men Robbie Avila and Brady Dunlap led the club with 18 points apiece. Avila also had a team-high six assists and Dunlap, who came off the bench, knocked down a game-high four three-pointers.
Dion Brown had 15 points and nine rebounds, while Trey Green, who made three three-pointers, finished with 12 points and five rebounds.

The first half of the game was a back-and-forth affair, with the Billikens and Wildcats trading the lead 18 times.
The second half began the same way, with neither team leading by more than four points, until midway through when Dunlap hit a pair of back-to-back three’s that gave SLU a 57-51 lead.
The Billikens never trailed again and pushed their lead to 10 points, after a three by Green with eight minutes to go.
New Hampshire didn’t back down and got within four points with four minutes to go. SLU responded by making 12-of-12 free throws in the final minutes and eventually won by 14 points.
The Billikens will get the next seven days off, then return to the court next Sunday, December 22, to host Principia.
That matchup will tip off at 2 p.m., and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
