FAIRFAX, VA — Coming off a weekend where it got swept at home by VCU, the Saint Louis University women’s volleyball team flipped the script and went on the road and swept two matches against George Mason. The two losses followed by the two wins gives Saint Louis a 2-2 record in Atlantic 10 Conference play, and lifts the team’s overall record to 9-7.

On Friday, the Billikens and Patriots played a back-and-forth match, where teams traded wins in the first four sets, before Saint Louis eventually won in five sets by the score of 18-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-19, 15-8.

SLU senior outside hitter Delaney Rice had a career-high 26 kills and two service aces to lead the Billiken offense. Teammate Kate Aupperle 35 assists and 13 digs, while Carlie Rodgers added 23 digs.

On Saturday, Saint Louis had a much easier time, as it won in straight sets, 25-18, 25-22, 25-21.

Senior middle blocker Jillian Mattingly led the way that day. She posted 10 kills and three blocks.

Six different Billiken players registered at least one kill. Rice had eight kills, as did freshman hitter Josie Newcom.

Aupperle had 30 assists and Rodgers had 22 digs.

SLU will be back in action and back home with a rare midweek matchup on Tuesday, October 3. The Billikens will host Loyola Chicago at Chaifetz Pavilion, with first serve set for 6 p.m.
