ST. LOUIS, MO — The Saint Louis University baseball team began its home schedule over the weekend and won two of the three games it played against Le Moyne College at the Billiken Sports Complex.
SLU came into the weekend with an 8-0 record and as it turned out, had a chance to make it through the three games with its perfect mark still in tact. But the Billikens lost the series opener, 6-5, after giving up two runs in the top of the ninth.
Saint Louis went on to win 4-0 on Saturday, and 19-5 on Sunday. The Billikens have played three three-game weekend series so far this season and have won each of them.
SLU is now 10-1 heading into the fourth week of the season, where the team will conclude its eight-game home stand with games against Western Illinois and Loyola-Marymount.
The Billikens will play the Leathernecks in a mid-week game on Tuesday, then finish the weekend with a three-game weekend set against LMU on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Saint Louis suffered its first loss of the season in a 6-5 loss to Le Moyne. SLU led 5-3 heading into the eighth inning, following a solo home run by Ethan Sitzman. But Le Moyne scored one run in the eighth and two in the ninth to steal the win away from the Billikens in their home opener.
Le Moyne’s Nick Nevins drove in the game-winner with a two-out basehit off SLU reliever Ethan Gray (0-1).
The Billiken offense was led by junior rightfielder Patrick Clohisy, who had three hits, drove in two runs, scored a run, and stole a base. Freshman third baseban Graham Mastros had a hit and two RBIs.

The story of Game 2 was Billiken starter Jackson Holmes (3-0), who tossed eight sensational shutout innings to get the win.
The sophomore righthander from Columbia, Ill., delivered his best pitching performance as a college player, with the eight scoreless innings, where he allowed just four hits and no walks, while striking out eight.
At the plate, four different Billikens had two hits, led by Clohisy, who had two hits and walked twice. Leadoff man Hayden Moore also had a pair of hits, as did Tyler Fogarty, who scored three runs, and Knox Preston, who drove in two runs.
Reliever Jackson Yarberry pitched a three-up, three-down ninth to close out the game.

A windy day at the ballpark proved to be a fun day at the ballpark for Saint Louis in Game 3.
The Billikens bashed out 16 hits and scored at least one run in every inning but one on their way to a series-clinching victory.
The big inning was the bottom of the second, when SLU scored seven runs and sent 13 men to the plate. Saint Louis had scored one run in the first, then with the seven in the second, it also added four runs in the third and another run in the fourth to go ahead 13-1.
Fogarty was the hitting star of the day. He had three hits, three RBIs, and three runs scored. Sophomore Ian Blazier made his first start of the season as designated hitter and delivered two hits and three RBIs of his own. Senior Ben Gallagher started at catcher and had two hits and scored two runs.
Moore also had two hits and drove in four runs, while Clohisy had a two hits, an RBI, and a run scored. For the weekend, Clohisy was seven-for-11 at the plate and also drew two walks. For the season, he leads the Billikens with a .488 batting average.
Starting pitcher Charlie Weber (1-0) got the win. He pitched five innings and gave up five runs on eight hits, with five strikeouts and two walks.
First pitch for Tuesday’s matchup against Western Illinois is scheduled for 3 p.m.
