PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Saint Louis University women’s soccer team won its fifth straight match and surpassed the 10-win mark for the 10th consecutive season, thanks to a 5-0 win over Saint Joseph’s University, Sunday afternoon at Sean Sweeney Field.
Along with five straight wins, the Billikens are unbeaten in their last eight (7-0-1). In fact, Saint Louis hasn’t lost a match in over a month.
SLU’s last loss came to then-No. 8 ranked Iowa on August 31. Since then, the Billikens have outscored their opponents 20-3.
In Sunday’s win, five different players scored for Saint Louis, led by seniors Julia Simon and Hannah Larson. Freshman Blake Hockett also scored for the Billikens. It was her second goal of the season.
Fellow freshman Caroline Chier and Addison Stanciak also scored goals. It was the first score of their collegiate careers for both players.
SLU dominated the action from start-to-finish, outshooting SJU 24-4, with 17 of SLU’s shots being on goal to just two for SJU.

The Billikens are now 10-2-1 on the season and 5-0 in conference play. SJU fell to 4-8-1 and 1-4-0 in the Atlantic 10.
SLU will get the next seven days off, before returning to action next Sunday, October 12, with a home match against Duquesne.
That contest will serve as the preview to a likely first place showdown between Saint Louis and Dayton — both teams are 5-0 in league play — next Thursday, October 16.
Both matches will be played at Hermann Stadium. Sunday’s game against Duquesne will begin at 1 p.m., while the showdown against Dayton will be an evening match at 7 p.m.
