RICHMOND, VA — Hope Kim scored a goal in the third minute and Emily Gaebe scored another two minutes later to carry the Saint Louis University women’s soccer team to a 2-0 Atlantic 10 Conference win over Richmond, Thursday evening at President’s Field.
The victory was Saint Louis’s third in a row and extended the Billikens’ current unbeaten streak to 10 games. SLU’s only loss this season came on September 1 against then-No. 7 ranked Penn State.
Since that game Saint Louis has seven wins and three ties. The Billikens, who are 9-1-5 overall and 5-0-2 in the Atlantic 10, also took over first place in the conference standings, surpassing Dayton, which is 5-1 in league play.
The Flyers, who are 11-3 on the season and have won five games in a row themselves, play La Salle later in the evening on Thursday and could re-take first place with a win.

Kim, a freshman from Overland Park, Kan., scored her third goal of the season at the 2:11 mark, on a play set up by teammates Lyndsey Heckel and Katie Houck. It was Kim’s second straight game with a goal and third straight game scoring a point. All three of her goals this season have been game-winners.
Gaebe, SLU’s all-time leader in goals and points, added her 12th goal of this season at 4:26 on a play assisted by Hannah Sawyer.
After that, the Billiken defense simply smothered Richmond. The Spiders didn’t get a single shot attempt in the whole game. Richmond barely ever had possession of the ball in the game, while SLU registered 20 shots (12 on goal).

SLU’s next home game will be next Thursday, October 24, when the Billikens will host George Mason at Hermann Stadium. That match will kick off at 7 p.m.
