NORMANDY, MO — University of Missouri-St. Louis sophomore Matt Enright tied a career-high with six three-pointers, including five makes in the first half to lead the Tritons to a 61-55 win over Quincy, in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game, Saturday afternoon at the Mark Twain Building.

Enright finished with a game-high 22 points, along with four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. The 6-foot-1 lefty sharpshooter from Webster Groves made his final three during a key 11-0 run midway through the second half that allowed UMSL to take firm control of the game.

The score had been tied at 42, but once the Tritons scored the 11 straight points, which included a pair of layups by Emanuel Prospere, a short jumper by Enright, a long three by Enright, and a fastbreak dunk by Mayson Quartlebaum, UMSL never trailed again.

The closest Quincy would get would be six points in the final seconds, but the Tritons were able to run out the clock and collect the win.

Quartlebaum finished with 12 points and Prospere had 10.

Saturday’s performance was one of UMSL’s best defensive efforts of the season. The 55 points allowed were the lowest for any game this season by the Tritons, who held Quincy to 35 percent shooting (19-of-55), which included a mere 6-of-21 from three-point land.

The victory improved UMSL’s record to 10-13 overall and 8-7 in GLVC league play. Quincy, which has now lost five games in a row, fell to 10-13 and 5-10 in the conference.

UMSL will be on the road for two games next week. The Tritons will play Drury on Thursday and Southwest Baptist next Saturday.

UMSL’s next home game will be on February 29, against the University of Indianapolis.
