ST. LOUIS, MO — Fresh off its biggest win in at least five seasons, the University of Missouri football team will be back at it Saturday. This time, the Tigers will be in a familiar, yet no so familiar place, when they travel to St. Louis to play the University of Memphis in a game at the Dome at America’s Center.
Missouri hasn’t played in St. Louis since 2011. But they are expecting a huge crowd to not-quite sellout, but pack the Dome pretty good for what should be a fun matchup between two exciting teams which has been dubbed the “Mizzou To The Lou” Classic.
Both teams will head into Saturday night’s matchup with 3-0 records. Mizzou got there with wins over South Dakota, Middle Tennessee, and then-No. 15 Kansas State, while Memphis has wins over Bethune-Cookman, Arkansas State, and Navy.
As excited as he was about last Saturday’s exhilarating win over K-State, Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz talked mostly about his club putting that game behind them and being ready for another tough opponent in Memphis.
“I think we took advantage of the opportunity that was presented to us. But to live in the past is to die in the present,” Drinkwitz said. “It’s only going to matter if we continue to put our best foot forward this week and focus on this week’s opponent, and we got to move on. You know, it was good. You know, enjoy the moment, be present, but you can’t live in the past.”
