ST. LOUIS, MO — The top-seeded and No. 21-ranked Saint Louis University women’s soccer team will continue its march toward what would be an unprecedented sixth straight Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament championship, Wednesday evening, when it hosts a tournament semifinal game at Hermann Stadium against Duquesne.

Saint Louis, which is 15-2-2 on the season, will bring in an eight-game winning streak, a school-record eight-game shutout streak, and a 14-game unbeaten streak (12-0-2), which dates back to August.

The Billikens earned their berth in the semifinals by defeating VCU, 2-0, last Friday. Fifth-seeded Duquesne reached this point by knocking off fourth-seeded UMass.

SLU and Duquesne played earlier this season, with the Billikens willing 4-0 on October 19.

Players to Watch: With her goal against VCU last Friday, Emily Gaebe became Saint Louis’ single-season record holder in goals (14) and points (34). Gaebe is on a 10-game point-scoring streak, recording 28 points on 12 goals and four assists during that span. Her goals and points totals lead the A-10 and rank sixth and seventh, respectively, in the nation, and her five game-winning goals top the A-10 and rank eighth nationally.

Gaebe has moved into third place on SLU’s career goals list with 30.

Caroline Kelly (nine) and Hannah Sawyer (career-high seven) rank second and third in goals, respectively, on the team.

Emily Puricelli has raised her save percentage to .880 (11th nationally) and lowered her goals against average to 0.55 (26th). Puricelli has not allowed a goal in her last 697:23 of action. She has 37 career shutouts, one shy of Meghann Burke’s Saint Louis record.

Duquesne is led by sophomore forwards Maya Matesa and Brianna Moore. Matesa has seven goals and Moore has five.

Up Next: The winner of Wednesday’s contest will advance to the A-10 Tourney championship game on Sunday. If SLU wins, the game will be at Hermann Stadium. If Duquesne wins, the game would be hosted by whichever team won the other semifinal (No. 3 Dayton at No. 2 La Salle).

Sunday’s championship game will be played at 12 p.m.
