CHICAGO, IL — The Saint Louis University men’s basketball team will hit the road, looking to snap a four-game losing streak, on Tuesday, when it takes on Loyola-Chicago in an Atlantic 10 Conference game at Gentile Arena.
Saint Louis has had a tough go since before Christmas, winning just one of its last eight games. But the Billikens are hoping a trip to Chicago will get them back on the right track.
The Ramblers have been playing well. They’re 13-7 on the season and tied for third place in the A-10 standings, with a 5-2 league mark.
L-C needs a win to keep track with VCU, which is also 5-2 in conference play, and also to stay close to first place Richmond (7-0) and second place Dayton (6-1).
Tuesday’s matchup will be the second meeting of the season between the Billikens and Ramblers. Loyola-Chicago won the first meeting, 80-73, at Chaifetz Arena, back on January 3 in the conference opener for both clubs.
Players to Watch: Gibson Jimerson is SLU’s leading scorer at 15.3 ppg. He had 16 points in the Billiken loss to UMass on Saturday.
Sophomore Larry Hughes II scored a career-high 14 points, but fouled out late in that game against UMass. Senior point guard Mike Meadows had a season high seven assists, and freshman Djordje Curcic came off the bench and scored a career high eight points.
For Loyola-Chicago, Philip Alston and Des Watson lead the team in scoring. Alston averages 13.3 ppg and Watson is right behind at 12.7 ppg.
In the Ramblers win over the Billikens earlier this year, Watson hit five three-pointers and scored 24 points to lead all scorers.
Up Next: SLU will be back home on Saturday, with a matchup against Fordham. That game at Chaifetz Arena, will tip off at 1:30 p.m., and will be televised nationally on the USA Network.
