COLUMBIA, MO — After taking a quick break away from Southeastern Conference play to smash UMass 45-3 last week, the University of Missouri football team will be back at Faurot Field on Saturday to host its 2024 Homecoming Game against Auburn.
No. 19 Missouri is hoping is whooping of UMass last week is just what the team needed to right its ship before it got back to SEC play. Mizzou is 5-1 on the year and 1-1 in the SEC.
Auburn is 2-4 overall, 0-3 in league play, and coming off a bye week following a 31-13 loss to Georgia two weeks ago. The Tigers won two of their first three, but have lost three straight since winning their own Homecoming game against New Mexico on September 14.
Auburn is 3-1 all-time against Mizzou, including a win in 2017 in the only other meeting between the schools in Columbia.

Players to Watch: MU’s offense has converted 24-of-25 (.960) red zone opportunities into points this season, which leads the SEC and ranks ninth nationally; the Tigers have scored on 80-of-81 (.988) combined trips to the red zone since the start of the 2023 season.
QB Brady Cook (7,822) ranks fourth on the Tigers’ all-time passing yardage list and fifth on MU’s career touchdown passes chart (45); he enters Saturday’s game 977 yards behind Brad Smith in the No. 3 spot and six TD tosses shy of James Franklin in the No. 4 position, respectively, on those two charts.
K Blake Craig leads the SEC in field goals (13) and ranks 12th nationally in scoring (61 points).
WR Luther Burden III broke off a career-best 61-yard scoring run on the second play from scrimmage and reeled in five catches for 59 yards last week at UMass, extending his streak of games with at least one reception to 28 in a row.
Burden III ran his career total to 1,978 receiving yards, leaving the junior just 22 yards away from becoming the 12th Tiger receiver to top the 2,000-yard mark.
Mizzou’s defense ranks 12th in the nation in total defense (270.8 ypg) and seventh in passing defense (154.5).
LB Corey Flagg, Jr., leads the Tigers with 29 total tackles and 15 solo stops. S Marvin Burks, Jr., has 27 tackles, and DL Chris McClellan has 23 tackles and boasts team-bests 5.0 tackles for loss and 2.5 quarterback sacks.

Auburn QB Payton Thorne has 1,238 passing yards and 10 touchdown passes. WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith has been the top target. He leads the tea mwith 24 catches for 510 yards and six touchdowns.
RB Jarquez Hunter leads the team with 528 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
The Auburn defense features LB Dorian Mausi, who has 31 tackles and four tackles for loss this season. DL Keldric Faulk leads Auburn with 5 quarterback sacks.

Game time and broadcast location will be determined after this weekend’s games are concluded. The SEC did announce this week that next week’s game will kickoff at either 2:30 p.m., 3:15 p.m., or 6:30 p.m., and that it will be televised on either ABC or the SEC Network.
