COLLEGE STATION, TX — The University of Missouri football team will embark on its first road trip of the 2024 season, Saturday, when the No. 9-ranked Tigers matchup against the No. 25-ranked Texas A&M Aggies in a key Southeastern Conference contest at Kyle Field.
Kickoff for what many have billed as the SEC Game of the Week is set for 11 a.m., and the game will be broadcast nationally on ABC.
Missouri, which is 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in SEC play, owns the longest win streak in all of NCAA FBS football at eight games. Mizzou will be looking for its ninth win in a row while going against an A&M team that has won four in a row since losing its season opener against then-No. 7-ranked Notre Dame.
Since the opening weekend, the Aggies have a blowout win over McNeese and a trio of tight wins over Florida, Bowling Green, and Arkansas. In last week’s win over the Razorbacks, A&M trailed three different times before finally taking the lead midway through the fourth quarter.
That performance at the Arlington’s AT&T Stadium, where Missouri beat Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl last year, earned A&M more votes in the poll and moved the Aggies into the Top 25.
Mizzou had last week off, after its heart-stopping 30-27 double-overtime win over Vanderbilt two weeks ago. Since then, the Tigers have been trying to get rested and get healthy, while also working out some of the kinks that stalled them in the first four weeks of the season.
Missouri is 4-0 and ranked in the Top 10, but even head coach Eli Drinkwitz talked about how his team needed to work on some things to get better.
“(I) can’t think of a better time to have a bye week,” Drinkwitz said, after the Vanderbilt win. “I’m proud of our guys and how resilient they are, but we definitely have some things we need to work on and get better at as the season moves on.”
Saturday’s showdown at A&M will be the Tigers’ first chance to show how or if they’ve improved.

Players to Watch: Mizzou’s offense features a number of big named stars, including QB Brady Cook, who ranks eighth in the SEC with 946 passing yards and four touchdowns; WRs Luther Burden III and Theo Wease Jr., who have combined for 45 catches, 544 yards, and four touchdowns; and RB Nate Noel, who is fifth in the SEC with 441 rushing yards, but ranks second with a 110.3 yards per game average.
The Mizzou defense, which didn’t allow any points in either of its first two games, is second in the SEC, having given up just 876 total yards all season. The Tigers are fourth in the SEC in rushing defense, after giving up just 91.8 rush yards per game and having allowed just one rushing touchdown.
S Marvin Burks Jr., leads Mizzou in tackles (24) and has an interception. LB Corey Flagg Jr., is second on the team with 20 tackles and leads with 10 solo stops.

A&M’s top performers have been redshirt freshman QB Marcel Reed, who took over three games ago following an injury to opening day starter Connor Weigman.
In his three starts, Reed has thrown for 585 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions, while also rushing for 230 yards and two more scores.
A&M has said Weigman is a game-time decision, but Drinkwitz said he expects Reed to play.
“At this point, I know on their depth chart, it says the other kid is the starting quarterback,” Drinkwitz said. “But that’s just semantics in my opinion. [Reed] is 3-0 as the starter. Whether he’s listed as questionable or whatever, I don’t see them going back.
“They’re 3-0, they clearly have a different offensive identity with [Reed] as quarterback, and they’ve developed an offense that fits around his system. It’s a lot different than the first game of the year. If they go with the other one, they go with the other one. But they’ve kind of already built the offense towards Marcel.”
The Aggies also feature a pair of top notch RBs in Le’Veon Moss and Amari Daniels. Moss leads the team with 471 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Daniels has 211 yards and two touchdowns.
On defense, A&M has a thumper at LB in sophomore Taurean York (27 tackles) and one of the top CBs in the country in native St. Louisan (Kirkwood High), junior Will Lee III, who has 20 tackles, six pass breakups, and an interception this season.
Lee started out at Kansas State, but transferred to A8M this past offseason.
