COLUMBIA, MO — The University of Missouri men’s basketball team will host its 2024-25 home opener on Friday against Howard University. Tipoff at Hearnes Center is slated for 7 p.m.
Missouri will be looking to bounce back from its season-opening loss to Memphis on Monday. Mizzou led by 13 points at one point, but couldn’t hold its edge, as Memphis used full-court pressure and some hot three-point shooting to rally back and build its own double-digit lead.
The host Tigers eventually defeated the visiting Tigers, 83-75.
Howard lost its season opener to No. 1-ranked Kansas, 87-57. The Bison had a horrendous first half and trailed 46-19 at halftime. The second half was a bit more settled in and even, but Kansas still won by 30.
Friday’s matchup between Mizzou and Howard figures to be an exciting affair, featuring two teams that like to pressure the ball and run up-and-down the floor. This will be the first time ever the Tigers and Bison have ever played in men’s basketball.
