Friday night’s Gateway Grizzlies game against the New Jersey Jackals was postponed due to rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, N.J., on Sunday.
Gateway and New Jersey will play their regularly scheduled game Saturday evening, at Yogi Berra Stadium, with the first pitch scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
The first game Sunday of Sunday’s doubleheader will begin at noon, with Game 2 set for a 3 p.m. start.
Friday’s contest was supposed to be the Grizzlies’ first road game of the season, but it will have to wait until Saturday, as rain and stormy conditions left the field at Yogi Berra Stadium unplayable.
When Gateway and New Jersey do finally play, it will be a matchup of two first-place clubs. The Grizzlies are 5-1 and lead the Frontier League West Division through the first week of the season, while the Jackals have a 4-1 mark and lead the Frontier League East.
Once Gateway’s series in New Jersey concludes, the club will travel north of the border to Canada for a three-game set against the Quebec Capitales.
The Grizzlies’ next home game will be on Tuesday, May 31, when they will host the first of three against the Windy City ThunderBolts at GCS Credit Union Ballpark. First pitch that night is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
