ST. CHARLES, MO — The Lindenwood University football team suffered its first home loss of the 2025 season on Saturday, when the Lions were defeated, 52-28, by No. 8-ranked Tennessee Tech.

The Golden Eagles scored points on six straight possessions (five touchdowns and a field goal) in the second and third quarters to take control of the game, then added two more scores (both touchdowns) in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Lindenwood quarterback Nate Glantz threw for 294 yards and four touchdown passes, but it wasn’t enough to help the Lions keep up with the top 10-ranked Golden Eagles.

Tennessee Tech scored over 50 points for the fourth time this season and took firm control of the OVC-Big South Football Association standings, where it sits in sole possession of first place, following losses on Saturday by Lindenwood and Gardner-Webb.

Lindenwood actually grabbed the first lead of the game, late in the first quarter, when the Lions drove 84 yards on nine plays and scored on a 35-yard screen pass touchdown by running back Jared Rhodes.

Tennessee Tech responded with a field goal to get on the scoreboard, but then was able to grab the lead, when its own quarterback, Kekoa Visperas scored on an 11-yard run, following a TTU blocked punt.

Glantz threw his second touchdown of the day on Lindenwood’s next drive, when he hit tight end Darrin Fugitt, which gave the Lions the lead back at 14-10.

But that lead was short lived, as TTU scored touchdowns on its next three possessions to take a 31-14 lead midway through the third quarter.

Lindenwood responded with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Glantz to Jalen Smith to make the score 31-21.

But again, TTU answered with a Visperas touchdown pass. And then, Lindenwood scored again to make it 38-28.

But that was as close as it would get, as TTU scored a pair of touchdowns late in the fourth to put the game away.

Lindenwood is now 3-4 on the season and 2-1 in the conference. The Lions will look to even their record, next Saturday, when they’ll host Gardner-Webb in the annual Lindenwood Homecoming Day Game.

Kickoff at Hunter Stadium is set for 2 p.m.
