ST. CHARLES, MO — The Lindenwood University men’s basketball team earned its first Ohio Valley Conference win on Saturday, when it defeated visiting Tennessee Tech, 82-64, at Hyland Arena.

Four Lindenwood players scored in double figures, led by Keenon Cole, who came off the bench to put up a game-high 23 points, and Cam Burrell, who notched his second straight double-double by putting up 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Kevin Caldwell, Jr. added 14 points, to go along with six assists, while teammate Chris Childs added 11 points and four assists.

“Great team win for us tonight, everyone played a role,” Lindenwood head coach Kyle Gerdeman said. “Exciting to get our first OVC win in front of a great crowd. We are continuing to improve win or lose, and that’s the best part.”

The first half featured four ties and five lead changes, before Lindenwood took control by outscoring Tech, 16-7 over the final 4 1/2 minutes to take a 45-34 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Lions led the entire way and never saw their lead dip below seven points. Lindenwood pushed its lead to as many as 19 points late in the game, before eventually winning by 18 points.

For the season, the Lions are 6-9 overall and 1-1 in OVC play, while Tennessee Tech fell to 4-11 and 0-2.

Lindenwood will be back on the road for its next contest, which will come on Thursday, January 5, when the Lions will head a few hundred miles south to take on Arkansas-Little Rock. The Trojans are 5-10 on the season, and coming off a loss to Tennessee State on Saturday.

LU’s next home game will be next Saturday, when it will host Tennessee State. That contest at Hyland Arena will tip off at 3:30 p.m.
