University of Missouri junior wide receiver and native St. Louisan, Luther Burden III was voted a Preseason All-Southeastern Conference selection by the media assembled for the SEC Media Days event in Dallas this week.
Burden, who led Missouri in receiving and was a second-team All-American last season, was the lone Mizzou player named on the Preseason All-SEC team, which was announced on Friday.
The former Cardinal Ritter and East St. Louis standout had a breakout sophomore season for the Tigers. He led Mizzou with 86 receptions for 1,212 yards and score nine touchdowns. Burden was a first-team All-SEC choice following the season. He was second in the SEC and ninth in the nation in receiving yards and third in the conference in receptions.
Burden’s 1,212 receiving yards is the third-most for a single season in Mizzou football history, and his 86 receptions in the fourth-most in a season by any player at Mizzou.
Now that SEC Media Days is over, Missouri will focus on training camp, which will begin in about three weeks. Mizzou’s 2024 season opener will come on Thursday, August 29, when the Tigers will host Murray State in a non-conference game at Faurot Field.
Kickoff that evening is set for 7 p.m., with the game slated to be televised nationally on the SEC Network.
