COLUMBIA, MO — The University of Missouri football program announced on Thursday that it has re-scheduled its 2025 season opener against Central Arkansas.

The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, August 30. But Missouri and Central Arkansas have now agreed to play the game at Faurot Field on Thursday, August 28.

This will be the fourth season in a row where Mizzou will play its season opener on a Thursday night.

“We’re excited to keep this new tradition going with Mizzou football opening its season on a Thursday night in CoMo leading into the Labor Day weekend,” Mizzou head coach Eliah Drinkwitz said. “We want to thank Central Arkansas and the SEC for agreeing to the change. We’re looking forward to seeing a packed Memorial Stadium and continuing our sellout steak into the 2025 season.”

Missouri is riding a 10-game winning streak on Faurot Field and carry a 12-game home sellout streak into the opener. The Tigers are coming off back-to-back 10-plus win seasons, posting a 21-5 record which is tied for third best in program history over a two-year stretch.

Mizzou has gone 13-1 at home, 10-1 in one-score games, 2-0 in bowl games with victories over Ohio State (2023 Cotton Bowl) and Iowa (2024 Music City Bowl), and 4-0 vs. Big Ten, Big 12, and ACC opponents during that time.

The Tigers also host rival Kansas (September 6), Louisiana (September 13), South Carolina (September 20), Massachusetts (September 27), Alabama (October 11), Texas A&M (November 8), and Mississippi State (November 15) during their 2025 home season.
