The Associated Press released its preseason Top 25 college football poll on Monday and the University of Missouri Tigers were ranked No. 11.

The ranking was Missouri’s highest in the AP preseason poll since the Tigers were ranked No. 6 to begin the 2008 season. The Tigers were also ranked No. 11 in this year’s USA Today Coaches Poll, which came out last week.

Overall, Mizzou received 927 points in the poll, coming in behind No. 10 Florida State, which had 971 points, and ahead of Utah, which got 887 points.

Missouri is one of five Southeastern Conference teams in the top 11. There are also eight SEC teams in the top 16 and nine in the top 25 overall.

Georgia was ranked No. 1, after receiving 46 first-place votes and 1,532 total points. Ohio State was second, with 15 first-place votes and 1,490 points.

Oregon came in third, after receiving one first-place vote and 1,403 points. Texas and Alabama were Nos. 4 and 5.

Ole Miss (No. 6), Notre Dame (No. 7), Penn State (No. 8), Michigan (No. 9), and Florida State rounded out the top 10.

The Tigers will play three of the preseason ranked teams this season — at No. 20 Texas A&M (October 5), at No. 5 Alabama (October 26), and at home against No. 16 Oklahoma (November 9).
