The first of the preseason football polls came out on Monday, when USA Today released its 2024 Preseason Coaches Poll.
Things turned out pretty good for the University of Missouri, which is coming off a stellar 2023 season where the Tigers went 11-2 and finished the year with a win over then-No. 7 ranked Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.
This year, Mizzou will begin the season ranked just outside of the Top 10, at No. 11. That mark was the highest preseason ranking for any Missouri football team since the 2008 squad began the year ranked No. 7.
The last time Mizzou was ranked in the USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll was 2015, when the Tigers were ranked No. 23, after going 11-3 and winning the Citrus Bowl over Minnesota.
Missouri is one of nine SEC teams in USA Today’s preseason poll and Mizzou will play three of those teams, Alabama (No. 5), Oklahoma (No. 16), and Texas A&M (No. 20), this season.
The 2024 season will kickoff on Thursday, August 29, when the Tigers will host Murray State at Faurot Field.
