COLUMBIA, MO — The University of Missouri men’s basketball program released its 2024-25 season schedule on Tuesday.
The Tigers will play 31 regular season games, 12 against teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season, including the annual renewal of rivalry games against Kansas and Illinois in December.
The Border Showdown against Kansas will be at Mizzou Arena on December 8, and the Braggin’ Rights Game against Illinois will be at Enterprise Center in St. Louis on December 22.
Overall, Missouri will play 20 home games this season, beginning with the home opener on November 8 against Howard University.
The season opener will be on November 4 on the road against Memphis. This will be the first time Mizzou has opened its season with a road game since the 2003-04 season.
Once the Tigers begin their play at home with the game against Howard, they will play 10 straight home games at Mizzou Arena and won’t play another true out-of-state road game until Southeastern Conference play begins in January.
Missouri will play 18 SEC league games, highlighted by home-and-home matchups against Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt, home-only matchups against LSU, Mississippi, Texas A&M, Alabama, South Carolina, and the regular season finale against Kentucky.
In road-only games, the Tigers will play Auburn, Florida, Texas, Mississippi State, Tennessee, and Georgia.
Missouri’s SEC opponents were announced earlier in the Summer but now those opponents have some game dates attached to them. For the first time the SEC also attached optional game dates to several contests in a form of “flex scheduling”.
Another fun matchup on the Missouri schedule this season is a meeting with California in the second year of the ACC-SEC Challenge. That game will be played at Mizzou Arena on December 3.
The Golden Bears used to be longtime members of the Pac-12, but have now moved to the ACC and this will be their first year playing in the ACC-SEC Challenge. Last year, Mizzou defeated Pittsburgh 78-70 in the event.
Game times, along with TV information and select game dates will be released at a later time.
Missouri men’s basketball is set to feature a new look this coming season, in its third year under Dennis Gates. After going 8-24 and finishing the season with 19 consecutive losses, this year’s Tigers will feature a top 15 freshman and transfer class. Mizzou had the No. 5-ranked freshman group and the nation’s No. 12-ranked transfer class.
Training camp for the season will begin in October, with the season opener in Memphis set for the first Monday in November.
