The Associated Press released its new Top 25 College Football Poll on Tuesday and it included big news for the University of Missouri Tigers.

Mizzou, which was No. 11 in the preseason, has jumped up two spots to No. 9 in the rankings that were released today.

After winning the season opener, 51-0 over Murray State, the Tigers vaulted over previous No. 9 Michigan and previous No. 10 Florida State. The Wolverines won their opener against Fresno State, but struggled in doing so.

Michigan scored only one touchdown through the first three quarters and led by just six points midway through the fourth, before finally scoring two late touchdowns to put the game away.

And Florida State, which has played two games already, lost them both. First, the Seminoles lost their season opener in Ireland against Georgia Tech. Then on Monday night, they lost in deflating fashion to Boston College.

Florida State is just the third team to go from preseason top-10 to unranked in the first regular-season poll since the rankings expanded to 25 in 1989.

Missouri was ranked No. 10 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, which was also released on Tuesday.

Dating back to last season, Mizzou has been in the AP Top 25 since Week 5 and in the top 15 since Week 8.

Georgia remained No. 1, receiving 57 first-place votes after starting the season with a blowout of then-No. 14 Clemson, which is now No. 25.

Ohio State is No. 2 with five first-place votes. No. 3 Texas and No. 4 Alabama each moved up a spot, putting three Southeastern Conference teams in the top four along with Georgia. And with Mississippi at No. 6, Mizzou being No. 9 means there are six SEC teams in the top 10.

No. 5 Notre Dame jumped two spots after opening the season with a victory at then-No. 20 Texas A&M. Oregon is No. 7, Penn State in No. 8, and Michigan at No. 10 rounds out the top 10.
