After dropping to the No. 11 spot, following its double-overtime win over Vanderbilt last week, the University of Missouri football team is back in the Top 10 in this week’s poll.
The new Associated Press Top 25 football poll came out Sunday afternoon and Missouri had moved up two spots, to No. 9 in the country.
Two teams that were in the AP Top 10 last week — Ole Miss and Utah — both lost on Saturday, which made it possible for Mizzou to jump up, despite not playing anyone this past weekend.
The Tigers also climbed two spots, from 11 to 9, in the USA Today Coaches Poll, which was released Sunday morning.
With several big games featuring ranked opponents, there was movement all over the poll. Alabama, which came into the weekend ranked No. 4, moved all the way up to No. 1, following its all-time classic win over previous No. 2 Georgia.
Texas, last week’s No. 1, fell to No. 2. Ohio State remained No. 3. Tennessee moved up to No. 4, while Georgia fell to No. 5.
Oregon, Penn State, and Miami are Nos. 6, 7, 8, with Mizzou at No. 9 and defending national champion Michigan sitting at No. 10.

One team that made its first appearance into the poll this season is Texas A&M, which came in tied for No. 25 with UNLV.
The Aggies are Mizzou’s next opponent. The teams will meet on Saturday, October 5, in College Station.
Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. The game will be televised nationally on ABC.
