University of Missouri quarterback Brady Cook broke a longtime SEC football passing record on Saturday.

The St. Louis native and Chaminade College Prep product surpassed former Kentucky quarterback Andre Woodson’s record of 325 consecutive passes without an interception in Missouri’s game on Saturday against Vanderbilt. Woodson’s record had stood since 2006.

Cook passed the record in the second quarter and completed the game without any interceptions. His new mark is now up to 347 passes without a pick. It’s an impressive feat for a player some Mizzou fans wanted to be replaced after last season.

“I think I’m becoming a lot more confident,” Cook said. “I know the receivers are and the offensive line is. The offense as a whole is confident, and if we get over that hump of getting stopped halfway through the game and make the next leap to put games away, we’ll be in a really good spot.”

Cook has not thrown an interception since Oct. 22, 2022, against Vanderbilt, which is 10 consecutive games without throwing an interception. Through five games this season, Cook has 1,468 passing yards, 11 passing touchdowns, and three rushing touchdowns.

Cook is fourth in the conference in passing yards, tied for second in touchdown passes, and second in the league in QBR (187.67).

He has also been a key player in leading Mizzou to a Top-25 national ranking — the Tigers were ranked No. 21 when the new poll came out earlier today — and an undefeated record through five games, which includes an upset win over then-No. 15 Kansas State and previously unbeaten Memphis.

Mizzou has a chance to move even higher up the rankings if it can get by No. 23 LSU, which comes to visit Faurot Field this Saturday.

“Our locker room doesn’t care,” head coach Eli Drinkwitz said of Mizzou’s new national notoriety. “It’s all about going out and proving it on the field. We talk about ignoring the noise. If you get caught up in it when it’s negative or when it’s good, that’s weakness either way. It doesn’t have anything to do with our performance or what we’re trying to do.”

Kickoff on Saturday is set for 11 a.m., and the game will be televised live on ESPN.
