COLUMBIA, MO — The University of Missouri men’s basketball team delivered a dynamic preseason debut, with a 100-91 win over Kansas State in an exhibition game, Friday night at Mizzou Arena.

Four players scored in double figures for Missouri, led by junior Anthony Robinson and grad student transfer Jaden Stone, who each had 16 points. Senior Shawn Phillips, another Mizzou newcomer added 14 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, while sophomore Annor Boateng posted 15 points and six rebounds.

Overall, the Tigers shot 54.8 percent from the field and using a high-tempo attack on offense, they earned 34 free throw attempts (and made 28 of them).

The first half went back-and-forth between the two teams, with four lead changes in the first 10 minutes. K-State made three 3’s in a row to take a 16-10 lead, but Mizzou responded with a 14-0 run that put the Tigers ahead for good.

Robinson scored 11 points during that span, including a spectacular layup and three-point play, followed by a traditional three from beyond the arc.

The Tigers led 49-37 at halftime and by as many as 19 points in the second half, as both teams played every player on their rosters.

The regular season will begin for Mizzou on Monday, November 3, when the Tigers will travel to Washington, D.C., to face Howard University. The Bison were picked to finish second in the MEAC this season, after earning four first-place votes and 97 total points in the league’s preseason poll.

After going 22-12 and making the NCAA Tournament last season, Mizzou was picked to finish seventh in the SEC this season.

Mizzou’s home opener will be next Friday, November 7, against Southeast Missouri State. Opening tip that evening is set for 7 p.m. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
