COLUMBIA, MO — The University of Missouri volleyball team announced on Monday that it has settled and finalized its 2024 season schedule.

The Tigers will play 28 regular season games — 12 at home, 11 on the road, and five neutral-site games. Ten of Missouri’s games this fall will be against teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season.

Mizzou was one of those teams last year. The Tigers went 18-13 and earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Then, to the surprise of many, Mizzou won its first round game against Delaware, before being eliminated by eventual regional champion Nebraska. It was the Tigers first season under new head coach Dawn Sullivan.

This season, Mizzou’s season will begin with its Black & Gold Scrimmage at Hearnes Center on August 18. A week later, Missouri will host an exhibition game against Omaha.

The 2024 season opener will on August 30, when the Tigers will travel to Omaha to play in the Bluejay Invitational — hosted by Creighton. That first match of the season will be against Drake. Missouri will play Creighton and North Carolina State in two other matches that weekend.

Mizzou’s home opener will come on September 13 — the first day of the Mizzou Invitational — when the Tigers will host matches against Kansas City and Tennessee-Martin. Local foe Lindenwood will also participate in the event at Hearnes Center that weekend.

The SEC schedule consists of 16 games. Every SEC team will play each other member of the conference at least once, but will also face two opponents twice, in a home-and-home set.

For Mizzou, those home-and-home opponents in 2024 will be Kentucky and Mississippi State.

The new expanded SEC schedule means Mizzou will also face former Big 12 Conference foes Texas and Oklahoma, who are joining the SEC this season. Missouri will face those clubs in back-to-back road matchups on October 27 (at Oklahoma) and November 1 (at Texas).

League action kicks off on September 27, with a trip to Baton Rouge, La., for a Tigers versus Tigers battle against LSU. Mizzou will complete that road trip with a matchup against Texas A&M on September 29.

Mizzou’s longest homestand of the season will come in early October, when the Tigers will host four straight matches. It’ll begin with a meeting against in-state foe Southeast Missouri State on October 9. Two days later, Mizzou will also host Alabama, before hooking up with Tennessee (October 13) and Mississippi State (October 20).

The Tigers will get a week-long, three-match homestand in November, which will feature matches against Georgia (November 6), South Carolina (November 10) and Florida (November 15).

The final road trip of the season will come the next weekend, when Mizzou goes to Ole Miss (November 22) and Mississippi State (November 24).

The regular season will conclude with Mizzou’s final home games, the week of Thanksgiving, against Kentucky (November 27) and Auburn (November 30).

The Tigers are aiming to build off its stellar start to the Dawn Sullivan era. Mizzou vastly improved in its first season under Sullivan’s leadership, earning an 18-13 overall record, nine SEC wins, and its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2020. In the two years prior to Sullivan’s arrival, MU posted just four conference wins during the 2021 and 2022 seasons combined.
