The Associated Press released its 2024 NCAA Football Preseason All-American Team on Monday and University of Missouri junior wide receiver Luther Burden III was named to the first team.

Burden was one of 10 players from the SEC listed on the first-team and is coming off a sophomore season where he was named first team All-SEC and was a second team selection to AP’s All-American Team.

The native St. Louisan, who attended Cardinal Ritter High and East St. Louis High, was also a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award after putting up career high numbers of 83 catches for 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns.

As he enters what many believe will be his final season of college football, Burden talked of having high expectations for his team and himself this season.

“What I’m trying to do this year that I haven’t done (yet) is win the national championship,” Burden said at 2024 SEC Media Days. “My game’s gonna take it to a whole another level this year. I’m trying to actually get better at everything. Deep routes, short routes, third downs. I want to be a better blocker. I want to do everything better. It’s gonna be a show.”

Mizzou will begin the 2024 season in 10 days, on Thursday, August 29, when it will host Murray State. Kickoff that night at Faurot Field is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be televised nationally on the SEC Network.
