LEBANON, IL — The No. 11-ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s volleyball team picked up a tight win Friday night. The Tritons were on the road to play McKendree University in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game at the Melvin Price Convocation Center.
The teams traded sets through the first four stanzas, with UMSL winning sets 1 and 3, and McKendree taking sets 2 and 4. But in the final set, UMSL pulled away to claim a 26-24, 19-25, 25-16, 24-26, 15-10 victory.
The Tritons are now 11-2 on the season and 2-1 in the GLVC. McKendree is 3-10 overall and 1-2 in league play.

The UMSL offense was led by sophomore Addison Voorhees, who finished the night with a career-high 20 kills and two blocks. Teammate Iyannah Jackson had 15 kills, while freshman Alayna Santel had 12 kills and four blocks.
Junior setter Caitlin Bishop dished out 57 assists, while fellow junior Hannah Copeland and sophomore Skylar Weaver led the defense. Copeland had a match-high five blocks and Weaver had 27 digs.
The first four sets were all back and forth, with the teams taking turns making runs and holding the lead. It wasn’t until midway through the final set that UMSL was able to take firm control.
The Tritons went on a 6-1 run to grab a 9-5 lead, then closed the match with a 6-3 run to finally put the win away.
UMSL will be off the rest of the weekend and will return to action next weekend, when it will host home matches against Lewis and the University of Indianapolis.
The match against Lewis will be on Friday, October 11, at the Mark Twain Building at 6 p.m. The Tritons will face UIndy next Saturday, October 12, at 3 p.m.
