NORMANDY, MO — The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s volleyball team finished off a perfect weekend with its second win of the weekend, Saturday afternoon, when the Tritons defeated the University of Indianapolis, three sets to one in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at the Mark Twain Building.
Junior middle blocker Hannah Copeland had 18 kills and two blocks and freshman outside hitter Alayna Santel had 15 kills, three blocks, and two service aces to lead the UMSL offense, while three Triton players reached double-digits in digs, led by sophomore libero Skylar Weaver, who had a match-high 29.
All-American setter Caitlin Bishop had 55 assists, as UMSL won its fourth straight match and improved its season record to 13-2 and its GLVC mark to 4-1. UIndy, which came into the weekend tied for first place in the league standings but lost both its matches this weekend, is 14-4 on the year and 4-2 in the conference.

UIndy won a back-and-forth first set, 26-24. The Greyhounds won the first five points of the match to grab an early lead, but UMSL rallied midway through to take a 16-14 lead.
After a timeout, UIndy got hot again and won nine of the next 11 points. UMSL rallied again to tie the score at 24. But the Greyhounds on the final two points to take the first set 26-24.
The next three sets were also full of back-and-forth play, but each time the Tritons came out on top.
In the second set, UMSL used a late 4-1 run to grab the lead, before winning 25-20.
The Tritons led the entire third set and eventually won 25-19. The fourth set was similar to the third, with UMSL leading the entire time. But UIndy stayed close, before finally succumbing, 25-19.
UMSL will take a break from conference play next week and head to Hammond, Ind., to play in the Midwest Regional Crossover at the Hammond Sportsplex. Opponents and match times will be announced on Sunday.
