LINCOLN, NE — The No. 13-ranked University of Missouri softball team enjoyed a perfect winning weekend, when it won four straight games at the Big Red Invitational against Wichita State and host school Nebraska.

The Tigers won each game handily, defeated Wichita State 13-3 in Game 1, then Nebraska 10-6 on Saturday, before closing the weekend by knocking off the Shockers 8-2 and then the Cornhuskers 5-1 on Sunday.

For the season, Missouri is now 17-2, as it continues to boast one of the top pitching staffs in the country. The Tigers have a team ERA of 1.29, which ranks seventh best in the country.

In its games over the weekend, Mizzou never trailed. In fact, the Tigers had the lead for good in each game by the time they finished batting in the second inning.

In the opener, Mizzou scored five runs in the second inning to take control of that contest. In Game 2, the Tigers scored six runs in the second to jump on top of Nebraska.

In Game 3, the Tigers got three in the first, then held that lead until it got three more in the sixth and two in the seventh to put away Wichita State for the second time.

Then in the finale, Mizzou got two in the second inning, then added insurance runs late to put away Nebraska again.

The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday, when they’ll take on Kansas City in a non-conference game that’ll be played at the Urban Youth Academy.

Mizzou will play its first set of home games this weekend, when it hosts No. 24 Auburn in an SEC matchup at the Mizzou Softball Stadium.
