CLAYTON, MO – The No. 8-ranked Washington University women’s volleyball team pushed its win streak to 12 straight matches by defeating crosstown rival, Webster University, three sets to one, in a match at the WashU Field House, Wednesday night.
The Bears won by scores of 25-21, 25-5, 18-25, 25-17. WashU is now 13-2 on the year. Webster fell to 4-8.
Twelve different players recorded at least one kill for the Bears, including grad student Isabella Lipacis and junior Anna Freeman, who WashU with 11 kills and 10 kills, respectively. Lipacis also had three blocks.
Junior setter Sam Buckley helped pace the offense with 38 assists and also led the defense with 16 digs.

The Bears dominated the first two sets, which included a 10-0 run and an 11-0 run in the second set that helped build a big lead. That prompted head coach Vanessa Walby to empty the bench and play all 20 players on the WashU roster.
Webster was able to win the third set, but WashU responded by taking the fourth set to close out the match.
Several young players got to see more action in Wednesday’s win. Freshman Eileen Chavez had 11 assists and sophomore Ellie Laird had 11 digs.

The Bears will be on the road for the first of three UAA Round Robins this weekend. The club will travel to New York City, where it will play three matches at NYU’s John A. Paulson Center.
Two of those matches will be against ranked opponents. WashU will play No. 7 Emory, Saturday morning, then take on No. 21 Case Western Reserve in a match on Saturday afternoon. The weekend will conclude with a match against Rochester on Sunday.
WashU’s next home match will be October 2, when the Bears will host Illinois College.
