BRONX, N.Y. — The men’s soccer teams from Saint Louis University and Fordham University played to a 2-2 draw, Wednesday night, in an Atlantic 10 Conference match at Fordham’s Moglia Stadium in New York.
Saint Louis scored twice in the first half to take the lead, but couldn’t hold off Fordham’s staunch comeback to tie in the second. The Rams scored on a penalty kick in the 88th minute to tie the game. NCAA soccer doesn’t play overtime in regular season matches. So the game ended in a tie.
SLU, which hasn’t lost a match in more than a month, is currently on a seven game unbeaten streak. Officially, the Billikens are 4-2-5 on the season and 2-0-2 in Atlantic 10 play.
Fordham has only one loss since the beginning of September and has gone unbeaten in four of its last five matches. The Rams are 4-3-4 overall and 1-1-2 in the conference.
SLU scored twice in the first 20 minutes to open up a 2-0 lead, but Fordham scored twice in the second half to salvage the tie.
Matthew Wrobel opened the scoring for the Billikens in the 10th minute. Carlos Leatherman sent a long ball into the box that Drake Fournier headed across. Wrobel was there to head it home to make it 1-0 SLU. It was Wrobel’s third goal of the season.
Seth Anderson got his first goal of the year in the 21st minute to double the Billiken lead. After a failed clearance, Nate Ward pounced on the loose ball and send it to Anderson, who pounded it home to put the Bills up 2-0.

Fordham got one back in the 52nd minute when Andre Insalaco tucked one just inside the post making it 2-1 Billikens.
The Billikens were called for a handball in their own box with 90 seconds remaining in the match. That resulted in Fordham being awarded a penalty kick.
Senior Daniel D’Ippolito took it and sent a shot just inside the left post that tied the score and ended the night with a 2-2 final score.
SLU will remain on the road and head even further north, where they will take on Rhode Island, Saturday night at 6 p.m.
