The Saint Louis University men’s basketball team is enjoying the final days of summer vacation before fall classes begin on August 18.
Meanwhile, the athletic department is working out the final details for the full 2023-24 season schedule, which will be released soon.
But the folks at Saint Louis did get some news about how some of their schedule will look on Tuesday, when the Myrtle Beach Invitational announced its first round matchups.
The Billikens accepted an invite to play in the event back in May and have been waiting since to find out who they will play. Well on Tuesday, SLU got its answer, as it was announced that the Billikens will play Wyoming in the MBI first round on Thursday, November 16, at the HTC Center in Conway, S.C.
The winner of the Saint Louis-Wyoming game will play the winner of College of Charleston versus Vermont in the semifinals, with the winner of that contest advancing to the championship game on November 19. The loser of the SLU-Wyoming game will play the loser of the Charleston-Vermont matchup in a consolation round game.
Other teams playing in the MBI event include Coastal Carolina, Furman, Liberty, and Wichita State. All seven games in the MBI will be televised on the ESPN family of networks.
Wyoming, which plays in the Mountain West Conference, went 9-21 last season, after going 25-9 and earning an at-large selection into the NCAA Tournament in 2021-22.
This will be the third meeting between the Billikens and Cowboys. The teams played a home-and-home in the 1950s, with each team winning on its home court.
