Recent Saint Louis University graduate and former Billiken first baseman Cam Redding signed his first professional contract, Monday morning.

Redding has joined the Milwaukee Milkmen, an independent professional baseball team in the American Association of Professional Baseball.

A native of Wilmette, Ill., a suburban town about 45 minutes north of Chicago and a little more than an hour south of Milwaukee, Redding made his pro debut with the Milkmen, Monday evening, where he had two hits and two RBIs as the starting designated hitter in an 8-4 Milwaukee win over the Chicago Dogs.

In his five seasons at Saint Louis, Redding proved himself to be one of the program’s all-time greatest hitters. He hit 26 career home runs and drove in 177 runs. The home run total is seventh best in program history, while the RBI total is fourth best.

Redding also finished with 150 careers runs scored, 238 total hits, and 45 doubles.

This past season, Redding earned first-team All-Atlantic 10 Conference honors for the second year in a row, after leading the Billikens with 14 homers and 55 RBIs, despite missing the first 21 games of the season due to an injury.

Redding will make his home debut with the Milkmen on Tuesday, when the club will host the Kane County Cougars at Franklin Field in Milwaukee.
