COLUMBIA, MO — The University of Missouri women’s basketball team delivered a dominant performance in its home opener Thursday night at Mizzou Arena. Missouri, which won its season opener Monday night on the road at Missouri State, made it two in a row, with an 83-38 thrashing of visiting Bradley University.
The Tigers controlled the contest from the outset, as they led from start to finish, while shooting 51.6 percent from the field, including 43.5 percent from three-point range. Mizzou jumped out to a huge 19-6 lead in the first period and never looked back.
Mizzou led 37-17 at halftime, but the real dominance came in the second half — particularly in the third quarter — when the Tigers outscored the Lady Braves 29-11. In the fourth quarter, even as it played mostly reserves, Mizzou outscored Bradley 17-10 to put away what proved to be an easy win.
Senior Lauren Hansen led all scorers with 17 points, which included 3 three-pointers. Junior Jayla Kelly had 13 points and three steals, while Ashton Judd came off the bench to add 12 points, including 3 three-pointers of her own.
Eleven different Tiger players appeared in the game and each of them scored points and made at least one basket.
Mizzou (2-0) will be back in action on Sunday, November 13 at Mizzou Arena, when it hosts Southeast Missouri State. That game is scheduled to tip off at 1 p.m., and will be streamed live on SEC Network-Plus.
