The No. 1-ranked Lindenwood University men’s hockey team advanced to the American Collegiate Hockey Association’s national quarterfinals, thanks to a 3-0 win over No. 17-seed Michigan-Dearborn, in a second round game, Friday night at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights.

Freshman goalkeeper Trent Burnham stopped all 18 shots he faced, including a pair of point-blank shots in the third period that could’ve gotten the visitors back into the game.

Instead, Lindenwood earned its 13th straight win and now finds itself three wins away from possibly winning its fourth ACHA national championship.

The Lions scored all three of its goals in the second period, with two of them coming from freshman forward Caige Sterzer in a span of just over two minutes that allowed Lindenwood to take control of the game.

The third and final score came from fellow freshman Kyle Jeffers, with just under two minutes left in the period that gave the Lions a lead they would not relinquish.

Lindenwood, which is now 19-3 on the season, will play the winner of the Stony Brook-Jamestown second-round contest, in the quarterfinals on Sunday. The winner of that matchup will advance to the ACHA Frozen Four, which will be played next weekend at the Centene Community Ice Center.
