ST. CHARLES, MO — The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s basketball team suffered one of its toughest shooting performances on the season in a 58-51 loss to Lincoln University in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship game, Sunday afternoon at Lindenwood University’s Hyland Arena.
UMSL made just 16 of the 44 shots it took — a .364 percentage — including making just seven of 21 shots in the second half.
The Tritons led a tight ballgame 41-40 midway through the second half, but then missed a shot or had a turnover on seven of their next nine possessions and fell behind 54-48 with 90 seconds remaining.
UMSL did pull back to within three points in the final minute, but Lincoln added a pair of free throws and a game-clinching dunk in the final seconds to close out the win.
Three Triton players scored in double-figures, led by junior Matt Enright, who had 14 points. Emanuel Prospere had 13 points and sever rebounds, while Troy Glover added 11 points and six rebounds.
UMSL is now 19-11 on the season and will hope to receive an at-large bid into the NCAA Division II National Tournament, which will begin next weekend. By winning the GLVC Tournament, Lincoln earned the league’s automatic bid.
