SPRINGFIELD, MO — The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team won three straight games to claim a series win over Drury University in a four-game Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup over the weekend.
The games got moved all around from Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, to Saturday, Sunday, and Monday due to the poor weather.
But through it all, UMSL managed to find its way and win three of the four games.
Drury won the series opener on Saturday, 10-4. All of the runs were scored by both teams in the fourth and fifth innings.
UMSL got a single run in the top of the fourth to take a 1-0 lead, but Drury responded by scoring four times in the bottom half. The Tritons answered back by scoring three runs to tie the game, but the Panthers came right back and score six runs in their half to take the lead for good.
UMSL leadoff man Cooper Blythe had three hits, an RBI, and scored a run, while teammate Barrett Rose had two hits and an RBI.

The rest of the weekend was all UMSL victories.
On Sunday, the Tritons got a brilliant pitching effort from righthander Bryce Nicolay, who tossed his first collegiate nine-inning complete game by allowing just two runs (one earned) on eight hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.
Nicolay, a redshirt freshman from Oakville, Mo., is now 3-1 on the season and leads the club with a 2.02 earned run average. Junior Cade Grevengoed had two hits, an RBI, and a run scored.
Monday’s doubleheader was exciting throughout. Game 1 was supposed to be a seven inning affair, but went nine innings instead because both teams scored big runs in the eighth and ninth innings.
The decisive inning was the ninth, when UMSL sent 10 batters to the plate and score five runs. The big blow was a two-run single by Grevengoed that put the Tritons up 8-4.
UMSL added another run and it turned out it needed it because Drury scored four times in the bottom of the ninth before the Tritons could finally get the game’s final out.
In Game 2, UMSL rallied from behind two different times before taking the lead for good in the final innings. Drury led 1-0 and 4-3, buth the Tritons scored two runs in the fifth to tie the game, then added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to claim the final game and series victory.
Grevengoed had another great game. He was three-for-four — making him five-for-nine for the day — at the plate with two runs scored. Braedon Stoakes was two-for-three with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored of his own.

The Tritons will wrap up their nine-game road trip on Tuesday, with a game in St. Joseph, Mo., against Missouri Western. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
UMSL will finally make it back home to begin an eight-game homestand that begins this Friday with a GLVC matchup against Rockhurst. The Tritons and Hawks are scheduled to play a single game on Friday, a doubleheader on Saturday, and another single game on Sunday.
