The University of Missouri-St. Louis athletics department released its fall sports team schedules, Tuesday morning.

And after sitting out last fall due to the covid pandemic, it’ll be back to business for the Tritons this fall, as nine of the program’s 17 teams will be competing beginning in September.

Those teams getting back into action will include the men’s and women’s cross country teams, the men’s and women’s golf teams, the men’s and women’s swim teams, the men’s and women’s soccer teams, and the women’s volleyball team.

Women’s volleyball is the team that has Triton fans most excited for the new season, after posting a 16-3 overall record and winning the Great Lakes Valley Conference Central Division title last year.

UMSL was ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association national poll most of the season and was voted the No. 12 team in the country in the final poll.

This year, the Tritons will open the season on Labor Day weekend at the Ferris State Tournament in Big Rapids, Mich.

UMSL will play a pair of doubleheaders that weekend with games against Hillsdale, Ferris State, St. Leo and Davenport.

The following weekend, the Tritons will play another pair of doubleheaders at the Southern Indiana Tournament in Evansville, Ind., before beginning GLVC league play the next weekend on the road at Illinois-Springfield.

UMSL’s volleyball home opener will be September  24 at the Mark Twain Building against Rockhurst.

The Tritons will play 30 regular season matches before reaching the conference tournament in mid-November.

The men’s and women’s soccer teams will play 16 and 17 games, respectively, this season.

Both teams will begin their 2021 fall campaigns with a home match at Don Dallas Field on September 3. The women host Delta State at 1 p.m., while the men will play Upper Iowa at 4 p.m.

The Triton women will host 11 home games this fall, while the men will host eight, including the annual matchup against rival Lindenwood on October 24.

The UMSL men’s and women’s swim teams have the same schedule, and will compete in 13 different events, beginning with their season openers at the St. Louis Showcase on September 11.

The UMSL swimming home openers will be October 15 and 16, when the Tritons will host a dual meet against Maryville and William Jewell.

The cross country teams also have the same schedule, with four regular season events in September and October, before the GLVC Championships in last October.

The Tritons’ first event of the year will be September 3, when they’ll compete in the Walt Crawford Panther Open in Charleston, Ill.

The men’s and women’s golf teams have different schedules, but will compete in five events each this fall.

The Triton men will begin their season at The Arch Cup at Stonewolf Golf Club in Fairview Heights on September 7.

The Triton women will begin their fall season at the UIndy Fall Invitational in Carmel, Ind., on September 13 and 14.

In all, UMSL will compete in 95 games or events this fall, with nearly 50 of them being home events hosted on the UMSL campus.
