ST. LOUIS, MO — The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s and women’s basketball teams announced their 2022-23 season schedules on Tuesday.
Both clubs are coming off fantastic seasons last year.
The UMSL men had perhaps their best season ever, as they won a school record 26 games and advanced to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16. The Tritons also won their first ever Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship to earn that automatic big into the NCAA Tournament.
The UMSL women, who were 23-6 last year, also made the NCAA Tournament, before losing in the first round to Drury.
This season, the Triton women will play a 28-game schedule, which will include 20 GLVC games, 14 home games, and a pair of exhibition contests, including a matchup against Division I foe Eastern Illinois on November 7.
The UMSL women’s first regular season game will come on November 11, with a home matchup at the Mark Twain Building against Grand Valley State.
The UMSL men will also begin with an exhibition game against a D1 opponent. The Tritons are scheduled to play in-town foe, Saint Louis University at Chaifetz Arena on October 24.
Like the women, UMSL’s first regular game will be on November 11, when the club will play in the GLVC/GMAC Hoops Crossover, which will be hosted by Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. That weekend, the Tritons will play Walsh on November 11, and Tiffin on November 12.
UMSL’s first home game will come November 17, when the Tritons will host East-West University.
Overall, the Triton men will play a 29-game schedule, with 28 of those games being regular season contest, 20 of them being GLVC matchups, and 14 of them being home games.
UMSL will also play in two weekend invite tournaments. The first, will be the GLVC/GMAC Crossover in Ohio. The second, will be the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic in December, when the Tritons will play West Texas A&M and Rollins University.
Many of the dates the Tritons play will be dual contests, where the women’s team will play a game, followed by a men’s game. The first of those such dates will come on December 1, when both teams will play Drury University. The women’s game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
