With one game left in their respective regular seasons, the Washington University men’s and women’s soccer teams both remain ranked in their respective national Top 10 polls.
The Wash. U. women, who clinched their third straight UAA title with a win over Case Western Reserve this past Friday night, slipped to No. 6, after suffering their first loss of the season on Sunday.
The Bears are 13-1-1 on the season and 5-1 in conference play.
Additionally, Wash. U. is ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Region VIII, which determines which teams from a specific area make it to the NCAA National Tournament.
The Wash. U. men, who could clinch their own UAA title with a win this Sunday over the University of Chicago, jumped from No. 7 to No. 3 in the country, following their two shutout wins last weekend over Carnegie Mellon and Case Western.
The Bears, who are 11-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in league games, have won four straight games – all shutouts – and have only allowed six goals all season.
This Sunday’s matchup between Wash. U. and UofChicago, will be for the No. 1 slot in the men’s Region VIII. The Bears will go into that match ranked No. 2 in the region, while the Maroons (12-4-1 on the year) are ranked No. 1.
The two soccer matches on Sunday will both be played at Wash. U.’s Francis Olympic Field. The women’s game will begin at 4 p.m., and the men’s game will start at 7 p.m.
